Global Message – March 2022

Dear colleagues,

It’s been a busy month as we head into the final stretch of the spring semester and I’d like to take a moment to provide some updates and share some information.

I had a great visit to Singapore over spring break — my first trip outside our time zone in over two years. In addition, we had a wonderful Gruber Distinguished Lecture in Women’s Rights by Jocelyn Samuels at the law school, and a very informative antiracism session facilitated by Dr. Whitney Peoples. I was pleased to see so many of you, both at these events and around campus in the past few weeks.

I recently listened to an episode of the Yale Talk Podcast, ‘Crafting Your Job Into A Calling’ in which the School of Management’s professor Amy Wrzesniewski joined President Salovey to discuss how people find meaning and satisfaction in their work. As we all embark on the next chapter of our work together at Yale, the contributions that so many of you make every day to promote international understanding and academic engagement remains crucial. I hope we continue to find meaning in our work as we connect anew with each other in-person.

I hope to see you around campus as the weather gradually warms.

With best regards,
Pericles

Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives
